The aim of the project in area that located on the city periphery of Istanbul, is to create a regional terminal design where buses approaching the city can stop and drop off their passengers. Considering the topography of the project area, it was initially determined as a design input that the incoming and outgoing buses within the terminal would be handled at two separate levels as lower and upper levels. There are two educational buildings and one planned sports campus around the terminal area. In this context, the project area actually has the potential to host public uses.
In this regard, the area between the project and the neighboring parcel in the western neighborhood is considered as the bus circulation area, while the western part, where the roads turns around, is reserved for public uses and the terminal entrance square. A pedestrian axis – square was designed to connect the educational buildings in the north and South direction, and the terminal building was accessed from here. The underground car park, which will be handled together with the terminal structure, is also considered underground at the bottom of this square.
The building facade design was considered as a double skin, thus, while creating a shifting facade texture, a controlled air conditioning strategy was developed to provide air circulation between the walls.
