Located in the south of the ITU Maçka Campus, between Maçka and Süleyman Seba Avenues, the project sits at a crucial threshold between the city and the campus, in close proximity to the historic Guardhouse Building.

With its location near Maçka Democracy Park, the Beşiktaş city center, and internal campus structures, the competition site holds significant potential not only at the academic level but also on an urban scale.

The project aimed to resolve the disconnections between existing buildings and open spaces within the campus. A new shared living platform was introduced at the +57.00 level, referred to as the “urban level,” which connects various elevations. This level functions not only as the main entrance of the new building but also as the primary pedestrian circulation spine within the campus.

The public square defined at the junction of the historic Guardhouse and the new building has become a common gathering space for both campus and city users.

The program has been designed to include shared interaction areas, classrooms, academic offices, and social units, organized around two main levels at 0.00 and -5.00. Circulation developed around a gallery void is oriented toward the silhouette of the historic building, forming the spatial spine of the project. Academic offices, defined as quieter usage areas, are connected directly to the historic structure.

In the design, much of the existing green texture has been preserved, and the building mass was developed with minimal intervention. The façade design establishes a visual harmony with the historic Guardhouse through the use of white plaster, travertine, and glass, achieving a balance between historical context and contemporary expression. Expanding façade openings enhance natural daylight comfort in the classrooms and offices.
